At PubhD Coimbra we dismantle the most technical parts of our work for the community in general

The second speaker at April’s PubhD Coimbra was Mauro Nereu, from CEF - Center for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet. The topic of conversation was “Uncovering Networks: An Interactive Adventure in New Ecosystems”, talking about invasive species in the Portuguese ecosystem, the research topic of this student of the PhD in Sustainable Forest Development.

Why did you decide to participate in PubhD Coimbra?

PubhD Coimbra for me was a challenge, which was trying to dismantle this more technical part of my work for the community in general and try to transform this topic as openly as possible and as simply as possible to also make it known what is done at the university to the population and to other students.

How was your experience in this edition of PubhD Coimbra?

I only have positive things to say, it was an incredible experience, I loved it! Even the interventions with other people: they asked me more technical questions, less technical questions, and that also makes us think a little about the way we communicate with people, and about the way we look at our work and how we can evolve from these questions.

Would you advise other colleagues to participate?

Undoubtedly! I was convinced by a friend of mine to come here and my mission is to convince someone else to come here and present. I have this mission for the future!
