What it's for?
Framing Student-Athletes from the University of Coimbra who:
- Engage in sports representing UC/AAC and Sports Federations in competitions of recognized interest and/or University Sports competitions (FADU, EUSA, FISU) defined by ODUC;
- Participate in internal competitions recognized by ODUC.
Eligibility?
Eligible students are those who meet the requirements of:
- Academic Merit:
Complete at least 36 ECTS in the previous academic year (not applicable to first-year students).
- Sports Merit:
- Achieve a ranking in the top third of the national and international competitions table in absolute categories and national leagues in the previous year, organized by sports federations with public utility;
- Inclusion in the call-up of a university team from AAC/UC (participate in 75% of the training sessions);
- Participation in a university competition representing AAC/UC (in the current academic year).

What are the rights?
- Preference in choosing classes (according to the established deadlines).
- Postpone the deadline for submitting assignments, reports, and/or evaluations.
- Disclosure of absences that coincide with preparation and/or competition.
- Access to the special exam period (2 annual course units or 4 semester-based units if the status is recognized for the entire year, and two course units if it is recognized for only one semester).
How to Apply?

2. Meet one of the sports merit criteria.
3. Submit the application and proof of sports merit to the email: desporto.estatutos@uc.pt within a maximum of 15 calendar days after meeting the requirement.
What are the deadlines?
- To take effect for the entire academic year: Until October 31 or until January 31 if the event determining access occurs after the defined deadlines.
- To take effect only in the 2nd semester: Until the end of March or until April 30 if the event determining access occurs after the defined deadlines.

A student is considered a Sports Practitioner if they are part of national teams or other national sports representations, being called up according to the terms set forth in Decreto-Lei n.º 45/2013, de 5 de abril. The student must participate in the activities of the mentioned sports entities, involving both preparation and competitive participation, and must be certified as such by IPDJ (the list is published on the IPDJ website).
Rights:
(Article 150 and Article 153 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Coimbra)
1. Schedule adjustments.
2. Waiver of absences according to competitive periods.
3. Designation of an accompanying professor - makeup classes.
4. Inter-institutional transfers.
5. Special exam period when coinciding with competitions.
**Rights extended to Referees, Judges, Coaches, Support Staff, and Officials, recognized by Decreto-Lei nº 272/2009, de 1 de outubro **
Deadlines to Apply for Status Allocation
- To be effective for the entire academic year - until October 31;
- To be effective only in the 2nd semester - until the end of March (the rights provided apply exclusively to the units of that semester);
- When the event determining access occurs after the mentioned deadlines, the status can still be requested until January 31 to be effective for the entire year and until April 30 to be effective only in the 2nd semester.
Failure to comply with the deadlines mentioned in this article implies the non-recognition of the requested status.
Approval
Approval should be requested from Desporto UC through the email address desporto.estatutos@uc.pt, using the application form available here, along with the certificate issued by IPDJ.

A High Performance Sports Practitioner student is one who, fulfilling the conditions legally established in Decreto-Lei nº 272/2009, de 1 de outubro, appears on the register organized by IPDJ, I. P., and is certified as such by this entity (list published on the IPDJ website).
