I wanted to get to PubhD Coimbra and "present my PhD topic in a way that would be interesting".

"Hydrogen as a sustainable energy alternative" was the topic that Carlos Dias, PhD student in Chemistry, brought to PubhD Coimbra. The student, who integrates the Chemistry Centre, was one of the speakers of the May session.

Why did you decide to participate in PubhD Coimbra?

I already knew Pubhd from a previous session I saw published, in which a friend came to present. Then, at the invitation /challenge, from a colleague from another activity, I decided that yes, I should participate.

How was your experience in this edition of PubhD Coimbra?

The experience was very good, I was very well received. The atmosphere is informal and welcoming, the fact that it's in a café also helps a lot. And the theme relates to what I'm doing, and it was also a way to train science communication. I think it was very good and I really enjoyed it.

Here it was more the question of time control, I didn't want to escape too much from the ten minutes, I know I tend to speak, because I get excited, it's also my theme, but I didn't want people to get bored with the subject. I wanted to stick to the ten minutes or go around it. And present it in a way that was interesting, explain the logic of thinking from the problem in its beginnings until now, and as far as it was possible, talk about what I was doing, what was not possible to talk about because it is still in the secret of the gods, so it goes on.

Would you advise other colleagues to participate?

It's funny because I came from a session where we have already been inviting other colleagues to come too. I think it is to be recommended because it is a very interesting session and it helps us to communicate with people who are in the academic field, regardless of whether they are from our area of expertise or not.
