Museum of Anatomical Pathology UC

The Museum of Anatomical Pathology of the IAP-PM, at the Faculty of Medicine - University of Coimbra, dates back to the 19th century, with an increment of samples after 28th May 1956, when Professor Renato Trincão (1920-1996), Pathologist, became the Direction of the Institute of Anatomical Pathology (until 1990), installed in the Faculty of Medicine building, during the period of the corporate political system of António Salazar, keeping its standing.

The Museum occupies 500 square meters with XIX exhibitors, maintaining about 1000 cases formalin fixed, air dried, wax models, books and photographies, becoming the richest Museum in the presented subject and known in Europe.

Research


The Museum sampling is open to every Research Group compromised with Human Sciences and Humanities, beyond Biology and Epidemiology.

The Museum incorporates the Museum Network either of the University of Coimbra and of the City of Coimbra.
