Geosciences Center

The Geosciences Center (CGeo) is a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional R&D unit that bridgesgeo-resources and societal challenges through geotechnological and humanistic solutions. It is a knowledge hub with half a century of existence, currently comprising 54 integrated researchers and 152 collaborators structured as a consortium of the University of Coimbra, the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and the Earth and Memory Institute (central Portugal), the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (northeast of the country) and the Autonomous University of Lisbon (in the capital). CGeo is committed to delivering projects and research outputs through transversal integrated approaches with a special emphasis on benefiting society, capacity-building, and the advancement and sharing of knowledge, emphasizing N-S and S-S cooperation.

The Geosciences Center is funded by the Portuguese State through the FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology under the strategic project UIDB/00073/2020 and UIDP/00073/2020.
