University of Coimbra launches programme to retain female talent in IT

The Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) will host the event "INSPIRA DEI: successful trajectories for mentors and mentees" on Wednesday, the 25th of October, at DEI, Room A5.1, 3.30pm.

This is the first initiative to take place this academic year as part of the INSPIRA programme, and is aimed at anyone interested in enjoying and contributing to this mentoring programme.

"INSPIRA is a programme to retain female talent in IT, based on mentoring and activities to support the development of women and girls' academic trajectories, providing a space for sharing experiences and awareness of gender issues," explains Paula Alexandra Silva, Professor at DEI.

This first event will focus on introducing and explaining the programme, as well as highlighting the importance of mentoring and what is expected of mentors and mentees. Some of the activities planned for 2023/2024 will also be presented.
