University of Coimbra hosts international meeting on tissue repair and stem cell-based technologies

The event will bring together over 160 national and international researchers to discuss the latest advances in the field.

The first joint Annual Meeting of the European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS) and the Portuguese Society of Stem Cells and Cell Therapy (SPCE-TC) will be held from 11 to 13 September at the Rectory Auditorium of the University of Coimbra (UC). The event will bring together over 160 national and international researchers to discuss the latest advances in the field of tissue repair and stem cell-based technologies, with a broad audience of scientists, healthcare professionals and industry.

The 2023 ETRS & SPCE-TC Annual Meeting is co-chaired by researchers from the Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC-UC), the Centre for Innovation in Biomedicine and Biotechnology (a consortium between CNC-UC and the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research), and the UC Multidisciplinary Institute of Ageing (MIA).

The meeting will feature keynote speakers Nicola Elvassore from the University of Padova (Italy), Maria Carolina Florian from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (Spain), Aristidis Venes from Harvard Medical School (USA) and José Belo from NOVA University of Lisbon.

The opening session will take place on the 11th at 9.30 a.m., with remarks by João Ramalho-Santos, UC Vice-Rector for Research, António Salgado, President of SPCE-TC, Willeke Daamen, President of ETRS, and Eugénia Carvalho and Hugo Fernandes, members of the organising committee (CNC-UC and MIA-Portugal researchers respectively).
