Since the beginning of the year, the 25th of April Documentation Centre (CD25A) of the University of Coimbra (UC) has been organising a series of initiatives to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Carnation Revolution", culminating in the event "Cantar e Declamar Abril" ("Singing and Reciting April") on Thursday 25th April at 6 pm in the cloister of the Liga dos Combatentes (Colégio da Graça, Rua da Sofia), with other events scheduled to follow until 2026.

The 25th of April Documentation Centre was founded in 1984 by the University of Coimbra with the aim of "recovering, organising and making available for scientific research the valuable documentary material scattered throughout the country and abroad on the Portuguese transition to democracy (25th April 1974), the events leading up to it and its aftermath, as well as the whole of the second half of the twentieth century in Portugal".

In line with the country's programme of celebrations, the CD25A's commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the 25 April 1974 revolution will continue until 2026 - the next series of initiatives will be announced soon.
