The Ethics Committee of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (CEIIIUC) of the University of Coimbra shall ensure, within the scope of research, teaching and extension activities of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research of the University of Coimbra (IIIUC), the safeguarding of dignity and non-discrimination; and the observance of the principles of autonomy, responsibility, intellectual freedom, integrity, transparency and accountability.

The CEIIIUC is a consultative, multidisciplinary and independent body, functioning within the IIIUC, next to its Scientific Council, whose activity is governed by the said regulations. The CEIIIUC analyses the issues arising from the Research and Development Units integrated in the IIIUC or from the Organic Units of the UC, as long as they fall within the scope of interdisciplinary research, which are addressed to it, without prejudice to, on its own initiative, producing opinions, recommendations and other documentation on matters within its competence.

In sume, the CEIIIUC analyzes:

  • IIIUC doctoral projects;
  • Other projects with evidence of interdisciplinarity. This interdisciplinarity must be clearly explained in the work plan.

CEIIIUC only analyzes projects for which data collection has not yet begun.

A Declaration proving the interdisciplinary nature of the project must be included with the documents to be submitted.
