We are located at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

The PsyAssessmentLab team consists of researchers (academics, PhDs in different areas of Psychology and PhD students) who have knowledge and experience in the area of Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessment in Portugal at different levels (Research Projects, Teaching and Practice) and in different contexts of application and professional practice in Psychology. Its members share an active interest in the adaptation, development and validation of Psychological Tests.

What does PsyAssessmentLab's RESEARCH comprise?

Psychological tests and other assessment instruments play a decisive role in psychological assessment research, teaching and professional practice.

The Psychological Assessment and Psychometrics Laboratory has played an important role in Psychological and Neuropsychological Assessment Research, particularly in the area of tests and other assessment instruments, most of which are essential tools that all psychologists should not only be familiar with but also know how to use effectively.

In this laboratory we carry out research on the development, adaptation, validation and preparation of standards for tests and other psychological assessment instruments (inventories, scales, questionnaires, interview grids, etc.).

Objectives of PsyAssessmentLab

  • Carry out research in Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment, focused on the adaptation, validation and standardisation of psychological tests and other assessment instruments, in a variety of contexts (clinical, health, forensic, educational, organisational).
  • Increase the number of original Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment instruments developed in Portugal.
  • Respond to requests and collaborate with other researchers, groups, laboratories and institutions within the field of research projects in Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment.
  • Maintain a close association that brings together Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment courses, master's dissertations and doctoral theses in Psychology conducted at FPCE-UC and the research carried out at the Laboratory.
  • Contribute to improving the teaching and professional practice of Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment.
  • Participating Participate in the definition and dissemination of good practices in Psychological/Neuropsychological Assessment (e.g., Guidelines) (Publications: Other documents).
