Molecular Physical-Chemistry Research and Development Unit (QFM-UC)

QFM-UC is an inter-institutional/multidisciplinary R&D Unit founded in 1994, hosted by the Department of Chemistry of the University of Coimbra. It comprises researchers from the University of Coimbra (Departments of Chemistry and Life Sciences) and the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (Agrarian (ESAC) and Health Technology (ESTeSC) Superior Schools).

Mission

Based on the principles of freedom of research, association and free initiative of its researchers, and without discrimination of any kind, QFM-UC's mission is the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, technological development and innovation, in the field of Physical-Chemical Sciences and related areas.

QFM-UC integrates researchers with internationally recognized skills in diverse areas of biospectroscopy, mainly focusing on the study of chemical and structural changes in biological samples induced by chemopreventive or chemotherapeutic agents, pathological conditions or environmental changes.

QFM-UC has an extensive network of scientific collaborations (both national and international) and encourages scientific mobility through international cooperation programs, particularly for junior graduate researchers. It currently has a research team of 17 PhD researchers and 12 non-PhD researchers.
