International collaboration

CGeo is well connected within the international realm, with active international collaborations with a wide range of researchers and institutions and close relations with main international networksaround the world.

CGeo is well connected within the international realm, with active international collaborations with awide range of researchers and institutions, e.g., Inst. Geol. y Minero ES (J. Colmenar); Max PlackInst. (M. Meyer); Universities of Orlèans (K. Koga), California Irvine (T. Miller), Göttingen (S.Siegesmund), Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, Mexico (R. A. López-Doncel), Sc. & Technology Wroclaw (P. Strzalkowski), Salamanca (D. Pereira), Torino (G. Dino), Tarragona (R. Sala Ramos), Muséum Nat. Hist. Naturelle (F. Sémah), Dakar (A. Camara), Cabo Verde (J. Nascimento, Vera Alfama), AUGM in South America (J. Sotelo) or several in Brazil. Some senior researchers have a strong internationalization (L. Oosterbeek, A. Sá, J. Pratas), and several ECRs have worked abroad and participate in international networks (e.g., the Eur. Ass. of Geochemistry; the Intern. Union of Prehistoric and Protohist. Sciences; the Network of Environ. Studies of Portuguese Speaking Language, IAH).

Research has been conducted beyond the Iberian Peninsula in over 30 countries, including the British Isles (e.g., Pereira et al., 2020), France (e.g., Nicollet et al., 2022), Italy (e.g., Garilli et al., 2020), Azores Islands (e.g., Salvador et al., 2021), Madeira Island (e.g., Góis-Marques et al., 2022), Canary Islands (e.g., Valido et al., 2023), Pakistan (e.g., Ahmed et al., 2021), Qatar (e.g., Freire-Lista et al., 2022), Iran (e.g., Basafa et al., 2021), East-Timor (Jesus & Quinta-Ferreira, 2023), Brazil (e.g., Pereira et al., 2019; Rosina et al., 2020), Morocco (e.g., Gutierrez-Marco et al., 2022), and S.Tomé and Príncipe (e.g., Neto & Henriques, 2023), in collaboration with local teams.

The research strategy was integrated with international networks, in which CGeo members assumed leading roles (e.g., IUGS and IGCP, CIPSH, UISPP, REALP).
CGeo also strengthened its connections to MSc's and PhD programmes, while fostering international networking among Early Career Researchers and students, enabling them to reach a stage of maturity with coordination responsibilities (Principal Investigators, PIs).

These collaborations have reinforced CGeo's international dimension and demonstrated the global reach ofour research.
