About
Brief History
CERES - Chemical Engineering and Renewable Resources for Sustainability, is a research centre established at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), which was set up in 1994 as a research unit funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT Unit no. 102) under the name CIEPQPF - Research Centre for Chemical Process Engineering and Forest Products, with the objective of creating a structured R&D framework in the Chemical Engineering Department (DEQ) of FCTUC.
Mission
“To foster research and advanced training in the field of Chemical Engineering and related areas, focusing on renewable resources and sustainable processes to address emerging problems of society.“
Vision
The Vision of CERES is defined as follows:
- be recognized as an international research centre of excellence,
- conducting innovative research in chemical engineering and related fields,
- contribution to the development of chemical processes,
- valorization of renewable resources,
- safeguarding the environment and human health, in a holistic approach of sustainability.
