Many of the observed planetary systems orbiting other stars are very different from the Solar System. Some of them, known as compact systems, are formed by up to six planets larger than the Earth, but closer to their star than Mercury is to the Sun. The period ratios distribution of these systems also show that there is an asymmetry near 2:1 and 3:2 mean motion resonances. In this seminar I will focus on some models that try to explain this feature, which can give important hints on the formation of the planets in the planetary disk.
