Emanuel Marques, a doctoral student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), is the winner of the 2023 Altice Innovation International Award (AIIA) in the "Academia" category. The €25,000 prize was awarded for his work "Charging the future of Evs through the wheel", developed as part of the Doctoral Programme in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The student says, "to be selected among so many high-quality doctoral theses makes me proud of the work I've done throughout my PhD studies. This award recognises the high level of research carried out by the DEEC research group in which I have been involved and which has helped me to reach this Final”.

The thesis aims to improve energy transfer in wireless charging systems for electric vehicles.

Launched in 2017, AIIA aims to promote and recognise entrepreneurial and technological talent. You can find more information about the award here.
