The University of Coimbra (UC) has been selected by the European Commission to participate in the pilot phase of the Industry 5.0 Community of Practice (CoP 5.0), which brings together European stakeholders to share best practices, develop joint actions and contribute to the implementation of the New European Innovation Agenda.

A platform for establishing new networks and collaborations between the different participants has just been launched. The Community's work plan and objectives will be presented until 2025.

The University of Coimbra's application for CoP 5.0 involved a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra (CISUC), the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR), the Centre for Research in Neuropsychology and Cognitive-Behavioural Intervention (CINEICC) and the Centre for Business and Economics Research (CeBER), with extensive experience in the three core socio-technical pillars of Industry 5.0 - human-centricity, sustainability and resilience in industry.

Open to the academic community interested in the subject, the UC application was supported by Iberomoldes and Altice Labs.

Industry 5.0 is a human-centred, resilient and sustainable approach to industrial transformation, and CoP 5.0 aims to support a value proposition for stakeholders at local, regional, national and European levels. The development of this community will follow a phased approach, starting with a one-year pilot phase, leading to the eventual establishment of a fully functional Community of Practice by the end of 2024.
