The Department of Chemistry (DQ) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) is organising the 22nd edition of the International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena (ICPPP22), which will be held in Coimbra from 8 to 12 July. The opening session will be held on 8 July in the Auditorium of the Rectory of the University of Coimbra between 8.30 and 9 am.

ICPPP22 will present the latest breakthroughs in photoacoustic and photothermal research, bringing together researchers and professionals interested in laser physics, thermal physics, bio- and nanophotonics, materials science, imaging, laser-based therapies, theranostics, analytical chemistry, thermal analysis and non-destructive testing, among others.

Before the conference, there will be a training school on the 4th and 5th of July at the laboratories of the University of Coimbra. The training is aimed at graduate and post-graduate students and will focus on the practical use of instrumentation for experiments in imaging, calorimetry, photoacoustic tomography, thermal lensing and laser-generated ultrasound.

Recent research in photoacoustic and photothermal sciences has led to the development of innovative diagnostic tools with high resolution imaging and clinical applications, environmental and public health monitoring tools, and new non-destructive methods for materials characterisation.
