As part of the European project 3CS - Cycling Campus & City, the University of Coimbra (UC) aims to encourage the university community to embrace more active and sustainable travel options. The initiative involves downloading the MUV Game app, developed by the European project 3Cs, which monitors CO2 emissions and tracks sustainable travel, awarding points to users who choose this mode of mobility.

The challenge starts today, 13 May, and will run for four weeks, allowing the academic community to play an active role in the sustainability efforts of the University of Coimbra, recognised as one of the most sustainable in the world by the ‘Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2023’.

The first two winners of the challenge will receive Decathlon vouchers worth €30, while all other participants will have the chance to win various prizes, including free bike rentals, UC sports kits, T-shirts and jackets.

To participate, simply download the free MUV Game app, available for both iOS and Android devices, and join the UC community by entering the password 'UCoimbra'. Then navigate to the Challenges menu, select 'Universidade de Coimbra Challenge' and choose your preferred mode of transport each time you set off.

The project, supported by the UC Office for Sustainable Development, aims to promote active lifestyles and reduce CO2 emissions by encouraging people to walk, cycle, use public transport or explore other alternative modes of transport.
