The University of Coimbra (UC) is committed to gender equality in the production of scientific knowledge. UC's main goal is to have "diversity in scientific research teams, inclusive recruitment processes, training and communication, and gender-sensitive knowledge production" to ensure "higher quality research with greater impact". What are the challenges of being a woman in science today? In collaboration with the UC Institute for Interdisciplinary Research, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we asked this question to five women researchers from each of the five strategic areas of the University of Coimbra. Daniela Ribeiro Pinheiro (Climate, Energy and Mobility), Maria Casqueira (Health), Giovanna Imbernon (Heritage, Culture and Inclusive Society), Susana Rodríguez-Echeverría (Natural Resources, Agrifood and Environment) and Catarina Silva (Digital, Industry and Space).
