The proposal "Talkie Talkie", which consists of an AI app to help the recovery of patients with aphasia, was the winner of the 2023 edition of the Cantanhede Innovation Days (Cantanhede i-Days), which ended this Friday (3rd) at the Rovisco Pais Hospital (Tocha, Cantanhede). The event, organised by the University of Coimbra (UC), brought together teams of several students who worked together to find innovative solutions to various health challenges.

This year, the UC student community was asked to respond to challenges in the areas of telemedicine and digital transformation, as well as elderly-friendly healthcare practices in hospitals. After receiving training in innovation, entrepreneurship, pitching and design thinking, the students met with researchers, teachers and healthcare professionals to develop solutions to the proposed problems.

The winning team - made up of students Antónia, Mariana, Mohsen and Shervin - developed the idea of creating an application (app) to monitor the recovery of patients with aphasia [loss or change in the ability to speak or understand language], the "Talkie Talkie", in response to the challenge "How to help citizens actively participate in their rehabilitation using an easy-to-use remote solution that allows reliable monitoring". pon winning the Cantanhede i-Days, the students qualified to represent the University of Coimbra at the event where the best proposals developed at each of the European institutions taking part in the i-Days initiative will be presented.
