The Startup Capital Summit 2024, organised by the University of Coimbra (UC) in partnership with the Coimbra City Council (CMC) and Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), will take place on 10 May at Convento São Francisco, once again under the high patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic.

Around 1,100 participants are expected to attend this free event. The main objective of this edition is to bring issues such as venture capital, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer to the forefront of the public agenda.

The Startup Capital Summit 2024 is primarily targeted at national and international startups, entrepreneurs, investors, companies, researchers, and students, and aims to become a pivotal networking event for these stakeholders.

"Innovation and entrepreneurship are key drivers of societal progress. Events such as the Startup Capital Summit 2024 provide a valuable platform to foster collaboration between academics, entrepreneurs and investors. The UC is committed and enthusiastic about strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem and contributing to sustainability through knowledge and innovation," says Amílcar Falcão, Rector of the University of Coimbra.

"We are positioning the municipality of Coimbra as the premier choice for job-creating investors, leveraging our outstanding education and health systems, central geographical location, cosmopolitan atmosphere, and a renewed capacity to attract young talent from around the world to live, work, and study here," states José Manuel Silva, the Mayor of Coimbra.

"As Portugal's leading business incubator, IPN will ensure that the Startup Capital Summit takes center stage in the country for all those involved in the amazing dynamic realm of entrepreneurship based on advanced knowledge," claims João Gabriel Silva, the President of Instituto Pedro Nunes.

The #SCS24 is expected to be the largest national event for venture capital, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology transfer in Portugal.
