Refood Coimbra will hold a seed meeting and celebrate its eighth anniversary on the 4th of December at the Auditorium of the Rectory of the University of Coimbra (UC). The event is open to the public.

According to Refood Coimbra, the UC's support has been crucial, "for example by providing team meeting spaces", in a "partnership to combat food waste, as well as allowing the collection of surplus food from some canteens and the donation of furniture (stainless steel worktops)" for the association's premises.

In 2023, Refood Coimbra has already distributed more than 78,000 meals and delivered over 239,000 loaves of bread and cakes from 21 outlets, including supermarkets, bakeries and canteens. Around 60 volunteers, many of them UC students and teachers, use their own vehicles to collect the food and deliver it to 26 institutions in Coimbra.
