PRODEMO Project awarded with a prize from the European Citizen Action Service | ECAS-UE

In addition to a CES-UC team coordinated by Giovanni Allegretti, the work involved PROGEU-Progress in the European Union, the Programme Integra Società Cooperativa Globale and The Democratic Society.

The research project PRODEMO | Promoting democratic engagement through mobile participation, with CES - UC (Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra) as a partner, has been distinguished by the European Citizen Action Service | ECAS-UE for its service in the area of innovation in European citizenship. The project aimed to contribute to the strengthening of awareness about voting rights in the European Union (EU), as well as promote the democratic participation of migrant EU citizens.

Funded by the European Commission Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme, PRODEMO, which had a duration of two years, was led by the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'. Besides the CES-UC team, coordinated by Giovanni Allegretti, it had as partners the EU PROGEU-Progress, the Programma Integra Società Cooperativa Globale and “The Democratic Society”.

Founded in 1991, ECAS was the first civil society organisation to follow the growth of EU citizenship, and is one of its most dedicated promoters
