On Sunday, the 21st of July, 535 secondary school students from all over the country will arrive at the University of Coimbra (UC) for a week to discover what it's like to be a UC student. At the Summer University (UV), participants will be able to explore different areas of knowledge and participate in workshops, cultural, sports and volunteering activities, as well as a Junior Congress.

The programme, which runs until Friday 26th, includes 20 workshops that complement the various activities in 24 areas of knowledge. The workshops aim to provide additional training in areas such as wellbeing and mental health, financial literacy, circular economy, photography and creative writing.

The Junior Congress, one of the highlights of the UV programme, will take place on Thursday the 25th, starting at 3 pm, where participants will present the knowledge they have acquired during this week of learning (and fun), and show how research in different areas of knowledge actively contributes to responding to societal challenges.

The welcome session of the Summer University 2024 will take place on Sunday 21st at 7 pm in the Rectory Auditorium, with speeches by the Rector of the UC, Amílcar Falcão, the Vice Rector of the UC for Teaching and Attractiveness, Cristina Albuquerque, and the President of the General Directorate of the AAC, Renato Daniel. The closing session will be held on Friday 26th at 9.30 am, also in the Rectory Auditorium.

The 2024 UV edition is sponsored by Santander Universidades - and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (for organising the workshops).
