Under the theme “Horizon”, the fourth edition of Mimesis - Theatre and Performance Arts Cycle takes place from the 15th of May to the 15th of June.

“The real stage of this event is the city as a whole”, says Delfim Leão, UC Vice-Rector for Culture, Communication and Open Science. Organised by the Rectory of the University of Coimbra (UC), Mimesis offers several events throughout the city of Coimbra and this year will also spread to “other places which, although are not in Coimbra, are part of the same concept we want to value”, the Vice-Rector says, referring to the new UC Campus located in Figueira da Foz, adding that “This initiative is beyond a simple political decision, it needs to be kept alive”.

Mimesis includes almost 40 initiatives, 28 of which are performing arts events "with a strong emphasis on theatre". The programme also features eight converging events, such as round tables, activities for children and workshops, which "somehow allow us to reflect on the process that led to the creation of the show", says Delfim Leão.

The full programme of the 4th edition of Mimesis – Theatre and Performance Arts Cycle is available in Portuguese here.

"Mimesis - Theatre and Performance Arts Cycle had its first edition in 2020 and is part of the Rectory's annual cultural programming strategy, based on several structuring pillars: enhancing artistic creation; promoting specialised research; boosting training and qualifications in the arts field (theatre, dance, performance); adding diversity and quality to cultural programming and building audience loyalty."
