The José Manuel de Mello Entrepreneurship Grant focuses on supporting research and development projects related to energy transition and decarbonisation, especially those with the potential for practical business implementation. Interested parties can apply for this grant until 30 April. It's a collaboration between the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) Portugal, the Amélia de Mello Foundation, COTEC Portugal and Nova SBE.

The grant's main objectives are to encourage and facilitate the translation of scientific innovation into practical business solutions, thus promoting entrepreneurship in Portugal, and to support the development of sustainable projects that contribute to the country's decarbonisation efforts.

According to the regulations, original research projects at the proof of concept stage, developed by researchers affiliated with Portuguese institutions or carrying out their projects in the country, are eligible. In addition to this grant, the Jorge de Mello - Industry and Innovation Grant will be launched next year, followed by the Amélia de Mello - Social Innovation Grant in 2026.
