This weekend marks the end of the 5th edition of the Coimbra Biennial, curated by Marta Mestre and Ángel Calvo Ulloa, with two days of diverse initiatives. The celebrations will begin on Saturday 29 June at 4 pm at the Santa Clara-a-Nova Monastery, with a guided tour of the exhibition by the curators, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Dalila Rodrigues, and the Secretary of State, Maria de Lurdes Craveiro. On Sunday 30 June, at the same time, the curators will lead the final visit of this edition of Anozero.

At 6 pm there will be the catalog presentation, with contributions by Carlos Antunes, Amílcar Falcão, José Manuel Silva, Raquel Lima, Pedro G. Romero, Daniel Barroca, Jorge Cabrera, Jo Labanyi, Gabriel Tupinambá, Marta Lança and curators Ángel Calvo Ulloa and Marta Mestre. The graphic design is by the Macedo Cannatà studio. The presentation includes a showcase of "A Magnólia Dentada - Solo para Saxofone Tenor" by Frederico Nunes.

The evening will start with a 'sardinhada' (grilled sardines) dinner from 8 to 10 pm, (5 euros, subject to prior reservation).

Then, get ready for the music programme by the Volúpia collective, with Lapis Lazuli, BRUSCA and Amulador, with a VJ installation by Opaaco, starting at 11 pm.

On Sunday, the 30th, the last day of the exhibition, there will be a free concert by Japanese artist Hatis Noit. Deeply rooted and, at the same time, capable of transporting us to different territories, temporalities and cultural expressions, Hatis Noit is an artist with a unique career. In her performances, we find references to Bulgarian voices, various traditional vocal techniques from Asia Minor and various operatic styles, with Japanese Gagaku playing a prominent role. Her music transports us to the world of pre-language, shifting the focus from the word to the sound of the human voice, which, for Hatis Noit, is the primordial and instinctive instrument that connects us to the essence of humanity, nature and the universe.

The 5th edition of the Coimbra Biennial opened on 6 April, and by last weekend more than ten thousand people had visited the Santa Clara-a-Nova convent alone. Alongside the exhibition curated by Marta Mestre and Ángel Calvo Ulloa, Anozero'24's three-month programme included over 80 initiatives. Inspired by Luis Buñuel's famous 1974 film, this year's theme was 'Phantom of Liberty'.

Anozero - Coimbra Biennial of Contemporary Art is an initiative of the Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, organised in partnership with the University of Coimbra and the Coimbra City Council.
