Five students from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) - Inês Sousa (Management), Leonor Carreiro, Joel Calado Ramalho, Jorge Miguel Cordeiro and Pedro Carrasqueira (Economics) - are the winners of the latest national edition of the Global Management Challenge (GMC). This international strategy and management competition is an interactive business simulation that allows each team to run a 'company' with the overall objective of achieving the best investment performance in the market in which it operates.

The FEUC team, named 'Accenture Next Level,' successfully met the competition's objectives by demonstrating that investment performance reflects the value of the company to its investors.

Launched in Portugal in 1980, the Global Management Challenge has evolved to become the largest international strategy and management competition, organized by SDG - Simuladores e Modelos de Gestão and the Expresso newspaper. To date, more than 650,000 business executives and university students from around the world have participated in the competition.

The commitment of FEUC's Economics and Management students, resulting in their recent national victory and the opportunity to compete for the international title, confirms the excellence of FEUC's teaching and the increasing integration with the professional world throughout the students' academic journey. In recent years, FEUC has implemented a programme aimed at developing skills and disseminating knowledge in strategy and management. This project, centred on a business simulator, prepares students for their future integration into the labour market, a key focus of the current curricula of the Economics and Management degrees.
