We can now take an immersive 360° virtual tour of the Botanical Garden and the Chemistry Laboratory of the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra (UC). The two spaces are now available to be discovered or revisited just a click away, as part of the project "Scientific Collections in Portugal: Three-Dimensional Accessibility", which provides new 360° digital tours and content about the botanical gardens and historical laboratories of the UC and its counterparts in Lisbon and Porto.

These virtual tours were designed as part of the new approach of the main natural history and science museums – including botanical gardens – regarding access to the general public, by using digital remote tools, which includee tours of the different spaces, three-dimensional items and relevant information.

In this context, a unique national heritage route has been developed to explore the most important botanical gardens and historic chemistry laboratories, offering a cohesive set of 360° immersive virtual tours of the five botanical gardens under the supervision of the Universities of Coimbra, Lisbon and Porto (Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra, Lisbon Botanical Garden, Tropical Botanical Garden, Ajuda Botanical Garden and the Botanical Garden of the University of Porto). There is also a comprehensive and structured selection of 360° immersive tours of two historical chemistry laboratories in the country (one belonging to the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra and the other to the University of Lisbon), based on the virtual tour developed for the laboratory of the University of Porto.

The virtual tour of the Botanical Garden of the UC is available here, and the Chemistry Laboratory here.
