This course consists of 4 modules with a total of 7 classes (3h per day) + 9 hours of autonomous work, total 30 hours of training.

Description of the modules:

Module 1 - What is a PhD, what it should be and what it can be

  • Opening, Introductions and framing, Contextualization;
  • Motivations, expectations, needs;
  • What a doctorate involves, what it is and what it can be.

Module 2 - Supervisor - doctoral student relationship

  • Types of mentoring, roles of the mentor, characteristics and attributes;
  • Managing expectations and needs in the relationship;
  • Delimitation of responsibilities and scopes of action.

Module 3 - Solving problems during the doctorate

  • Detection, analysis of causes and solutions;
  • Management of emotions and motivations, blockages, reconciliation of roles.

Module 4 - Transition planning and career paths

  • What is not 'Career Development', Types of career after PhD;
  • Career planning;
  • Soft skills and proactivity (PhD as a career).
