Abstract: Ecoliteracy - Environmental Literacy and Sustainability is a 2nd semester course, promoted by the UNESCO Chair in Biodiversity and Conservation for Sustainable Development of the University of Coimbra within the curricular offer of the Department of Life Sciences and with the collaboration of the Center for Functional Ecology (CFE) of the UC. It is a curricular unit transversal to several training areas, open to the various faculties of the UC community and aims to stimulate discussion on multiple environmental and human issues. The chosen themes are based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of UNESCO's Agenda 2030, with special focus on priorities within the Natural Sciences, but with active inclusion of other areas (Medicine, Law, Sociology, among others). The course also aims to include various nationalities, backgrounds and cultures, encouraging the sharing of different points of view and approaches. The course is taught in English and is therefore accessible to international students.
