Nuno Peixinho

The story of the resilience of a Portuguese astrophysicist, now with his name in space

Nuno Peixinho, an astrophysicist at the University of Coimbra (UC) and the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences, was drawn to the field of astrophysics by his fascination with space. His daily routine involves spending hours observing the universe as he tirelessly seeks to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos. While technological advances have somewhat diminished the romanticism associated with the profession, the magic of handling telescopes remains an integral part of his work. Constantly exploring new avenues to understand the vastness beyond Earth, Nuno Peixinho's career at UC has not only involved bringing space science to a wide audience, but also delving into the study of small celestial bodies. Today, there's an asteroid in outer space named after him.
