In June, the UC General Library (BGUC) promotes the first cycle of online gatherings about great figures who have marked Portuguese history due to the relevance of their intervention in the fields of art, science and culture. The personalities were chosen, during the month of May, as part of "Portugal no seu Melhor" (Portugal in its Best) project, through an online survey that invited the UC community to choose up to five figures.

After counting several hundred votes received through the survey, BGUC identified the 10 most voted characters: Fernando Pessoa, Luís de Camões, Pedro Nunes, Egas Moniz, José Saramago, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Eça de Queirós, Amália Rodrigues, Siza Vieira and Father António Vieira.

Each session will be dedicated to one of them. In this first phase, the cycle will consist of four gatherings, which will take place on June 8, 14, 22 and 30:

Participation in the first round has an associated cost of €10, which will be reverted to the cultural activities of the Liga do Amigos da BGUC.

Interested parties can apply through the form: https://forms.gle/GQQJpdeLdNEjK4wn9.

In July, there will be also a thematic visit, either to the Casa Museu Amália Rodrigues, or to the Museu do Fado. BGUC will release more information in this regard shortly.
