The University of Coimbra participated in the 6th international Symposium of the Portuguese Association of Women in Science

The session included an overview of the GendER@UC initiative and the project funded by Gender Equal Research at the UC, GendER@UC EEA Grants.

AMONET, the Portuguese Association of Women in Science hosted on the 5th of December its 6th International Symposium, aiming to discuss the problems and challenges of female leadership in Science in Portugal. The event was attended by Cláudia Cavadas, Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra (UC), along with other UC researchers.

The opening session was conducted by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato. Gulsun Saglamer, President of the European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) addressed the topic of " Women Leadership: Problems and Challenges". The report "Gender in the Portugal Research Arena: A Case Study in European Leadership", by Elsevier, was presented during the session.

Afterwards, there was a round table with the theme "Gender Equality Plans in Academia and Research Units in Portugal", where Cláudia Cavadas presented the UC research numbers, highlighting the GendER@UC initiative and the funded project “Gender Equal Research at UC”, GendER@UC EEA Grants.
