The Brainplayback Symposium will take place, in-person, on the 9th of September at Exploratório Ciência Viva. The event, in the framework of the research project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology “Playback the music of the brain - decoding emotions elicited by music in the human brain” aims to address different aspects of music and the neural correlates of music listening experience, representing an opportunity to gather national and international experts in music information retrieval, imaging, physiological and behavioural research.

The effects of music on emotion regulation and reward have attracted plenty of attention among affective and cognitive neuroscientists. The comprehension of the mechanisms involved in music listening would support the development of novel neurorehabilitative music-based interventions, integrating the mechanistic understanding of the underlying processes, particularly in disorders involving emotion dysregulation. The symposium “Playback the music of the brain: From sound to emotion” aims to address different aspects of music and the neural correlates of music listening experience, representing an opportunity to gather national and international experts in music-experience cognitive processes, music information retrieval, brain imaging, physiological and behavioural research.

This event is free to attend but registration is required.
