Mónica Rodrigues, researcher at the Centre for Geography and Spatial Planning Studies (CEGOT) of the University of Coimbra (UC), was invited to join three Workgroups at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), with the cooperation of EUROSTAT - European Commission (Statistical Office of the European Union), to participate in the Recommendations for the preparation of the 2030 Censuses. The goal of this collaboration is to promote an in-depth reflection, so that all countries can make a careful analysis of their populations in the future census, in several structuring areas such as housing, migration and mobility.

More specifically, Mónica Rodrigues will be part of the “Task Forces on the CES Recommendations on Populations and Housing Censuses for the 2030 round”, integrating the experts’ panel in the areas of Housing Topics, Household & Family Charateristics e Migration & Mobility (National and International).

The next revision of the CES Recommendations on Population and Housing Censuses will be published in 2025, in order to guide countries in preparing and conducting censuses in the 2030 round.
