Required competences for personnel carrying out procedures on animals, under the articles 23 and 24 od Directive 2010/63/EU.
The recent updates and changes within the EU Directive 2010/63 and the Eighth Edition of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals emphasizes that all personnel involved with the care and use of animals must be adequately trained, continuously educated and objectively assessed in terms of competency.
This workshop comes as an answer from the Responsible Body of the Animal Facility at IBILI – FMUC (Subunit I) to this requirement.
All technical staff and researchers are invited to be trained in several techniques and procedures of rodents, confirming their competency and ensuring the welfare of the animals within their projects.

Transfer from Lisbon Airport to Coimbra
By car
If renting a car at the airport, you can drive to Coimbra by taking the highway A1 direction North (200Km – 2 hours). You must leave the highway at the exit “Coimbra Sul”. Leaving the highway, you will cross the river until you find the sign “Hospitais”. Follow this sign and you will reach
IBILI right by the Coimbra University Hospital (HUC).
By train
Take a taxi to the train station “ORIENTE” and there you may take Long Distance trains (expected price 258). In order to know the timetables, you may consult the website: www.cp.pt, and then you must choose “Timetables” – “Alfa Pendular and Intercidades” - “Lisboa/Porto-Braga-Guimarães”. You will see then the timetable of departure at “LISBOA-ORIENTE” and the timetable of arrival at “COIMBRA-B”. At COIMBRA-B train station, you may take a taxi to AIBILI
(expected price 58).
Transfer from Oporto Airport to Coimbra
By car
If renting a car at Oporto airport, you can drive to Coimbra by taking the highway A1 direction South, Lisbon (120Km – 1 hour). You must leave the highway at the exit “Coimbra Norte”. At IC2, you must leave at the exit on your right “Coimbra” and at the roundabout, you must always follow the sign “Hospitais”. You will then reach AIBILI right by the Coimbra University Hospital (HUC).
By train
Take a taxi to the train station “CAMPANHÔ and there you may take Long Distance trains (expected price 168).
