Conference

"The Portuguese economy and the 1973 crisis"

September 27, 2023

Keynes Room

Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra

The Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) was founded on December 2, 1972, a time of shocks and crises in the international political economy, heralding the end of what would come to be known as the "glorious thirty" – the three decades of growth economy that followed the Second World War. FEUC was founded on the eve of 1974, allowing great hopes for a democratized national political economy. Bringing together a diverse group of researchers who have been studying this period on various scales and from different angles, this conference aims to discuss the origins, dynamics and consequences of a global year with profound national ramifications.
