Researchers Fernanda Paula Oliveira and Beatriz de Mello participated in the seminar "Evacuation Planning and Management in Rural Fires", held on 6 July at the Sala da Nau of the Valenças Palace in Sintra, as part of the project Evacuar Floresta - Evacuation Decisions and Plans in Forest Fire Scenarios.

At the seminar, the researchers took part in a panel on the legal aspects of evacuation planning in forest fire contexts, discussing the legal framework for evacuation plans in Portugal, the limits of private individuals being bound by evacuation orders and international best practices. The event also featured panels on rural fire risk analysis, the importance of cartography in evacuation planning, modelling the evolution and evacuation of fires and the Portuguese experience in the Chilean fires. It was open to firefighters, civil protection agents and the general public.
