BOOK "Principle of Proportionality - Texts of the XIII Meeting of Public Law Professors

The University of Coimbra Institute for Legal Research has published the collective work "Principle of Proportionality - Texts from the XIII Meeting of Public Law Professors", which is available in open access at the General Study of the University of Coimbra.

The book compiles some of the speeches given at the meeting with the same title that took place, on January 24, 2019, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.

The texts that are published demonstrate the centrality of the proportionality principle in public law, tracing its contours in constitutional law, administrative law, tax law, European law and public international law. Without forgetting, in any of these areas, the criticisms of and critics of that principle...

The organizers, speakers, and audience of the XIII Meeting of Professors of Public Law were fortunate to be able to count on a face-to-face event, full of meetings and reunions and dialogues not mediated by a screen.

Soon after, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it became clear how important it was to start this joint reflection on the proportionality principle. A principle that responds to the challenges of law in times of normality and in times of exception, showing how adjustable and virtuous it can be.
