The Master's of Legal and Judicial Science Programme provides all law graduates with a specialization oriented to the practice of traditional judicial professions as well as any professional activity in the legal field. The Programme aims at deepening 1st Cycle training and reflection on new legal themes so as to consolidate the legal training indispensable for professionals working in the judicial area and open the path to research activities. At the end of the Study Cycle, graduates are expected to display the following skills:
- solve highly complex legal cases;
- critical appraisal of case law (international and national, from any courts);
- critical appraisal of the doctrine (domestic and foreign) on various legal problems;
- compare Portuguese legal system-based solutions with those proposed by other foreign legal systems;
- pursue research activity in any area of law;
- practice any legal profession.
Persons who hold one of the following prerequisites are eligible to enroll in the Master's programme:
a) a Licentiate Degree in Law or legal equivalent;
b) a foreign higher education degree attestting the successful completion of a 1st cycle of studies in Law designed by a Bologna Process abiding State;
c) a foreign higher education degree in Law Direito regarded by the Scientific Council of Faculty of Law as complying with the objectives of the Licentiate Programme;
d) in duly justified cases, candidates with an academic, scientific and/or professional profile recognized by the Scientific Board of the UC Faculty of Law as attesting to their capacity to carry out this cycle of studies.
