The International Fair of Minerals, Gems and Fossils of the University of Coimbra took place on November 22, 23 and 24, 2019, at the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra. The fair celebrates the geodiversity of planet Earth, which has been held annually in Coimbra for 25 years. During the fair, the José Bonifácio d'Andrada e Silva Mineralogy Gallery of the Science Museum of the University of Coimbra had free admission, which gave the public the opportunity to appreciate the minerals that make up the large collection of minerals at the University of Coimbra. The fair also featured a lecture given by the researchers Teresa Seixas and Manuel Silva, professors from the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, on the theme: Minerals in Space. This year, the Fair also integrated the social solidarity campaign of the "O Sorriso da Mafalda" project, serving as a collection point for plastic and metal lids for recycling.
