Being a teacher. A commitment…” is the theme of the conference on pedagogical innovation that the University of Coimbra (UC) organizes next Wednesday (28th). The event, in which the 5 UC 2020/21 Pedagogical Innovation Awards will be awarded (with the support of Santander Universities), takes place from 3:15 pm, in the S. Pedro Room of the UC General Library, with restricted access and transmission through the Zoom platform (https://videoconf-colibri.zoom.us/j/7735201611?pwd=NzFQRGRCUHZGZ2E3MzJnNmNwUTRuQT09 | password: uc1290).

“This event, on the day we celebrate the anniversary of the World Education Forum, aims precisely at reflecting on the ever renewed commitment to what it means to 'be a teacher', a commitment to us, to our students and to the society we help to build. ”, says the UC Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Cristina Albuquerque.

The initiative, which was opened by Vice-Rector Cristina Albuquerque, the Deputy Director of the UC General Library, António Eugénio Maia Amaral, and the Coordinator of the Special Learning and Pedagogical Innovation Project at the UC, Jorge Miguel Figueira, includes a table -round and a debate on the major challenges facing the mission of teaching (with the participation of Professor António Dias de Figueiredo and student Luís Coimbra) and a conference on pedagogical innovation and reinvention of the future given by Dale Johnson, Director of Innovation from Arizona State University (which has been distinguished year after year as the North American university with the most innovative pedagogical approach). The closing speech, at 18:15, will be given by the Rector of the UC, Amílcar Falcão.
