Quantum Mechanical Tunneling in Organic Chemistry: New Paradigms of Reactivity

29 july, 2021≈ 1 min read

In the QUANTUN project (acronym of Quantum Mechanical Tunneling – QMT), of the Coimbra Chemistry Centre, funded by FCT and leaded by Prof. Rui Fausto and Dr. Cláudio Nunes, vanguard concepts of atomic QMT applied to organic chemical reactions are developed, establishing new paradigms of reactivity and exploring new avenues of molecular design. The project integrates QMT in chemical reaction synthesis and planning strategies, creating opportunities for the discovery of new transformations and making QMT a relevant tool in organic synthesis laboratories.
