Portraits of No One is an interactive installation that explores the computational creation of audiovisuals in the borderline between the real and the artificial, using images and sounds of the people who interact with the installation as feedstock. In its space, the installation maintains an ever-changing audiovisual environment consisting of the synthesis, projection and play of a set of ephemeral portraits and ambient sounds generated artificially. This installation employs Artificial Intelligence and Computer Graphics techniques to extract and recombine the facial parts of its audience and, so, generate portraits of an artificial population. Also, a sonic ambient is produced from sample sounds recorded by people during their visit to the installation. The installation, as well as the contents generated by it, provides a space of reflection about how recent technological advances are changing our relationship with others and the world.

Portraits of No One is a project developed in the Cognitive and Media System group of the Centre of informatics and System of University of Coimbra. The project was developed with the support of the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of University of Coimbra and the Foundation for Science and Technology.
