It was recently published in the Journal of Geoscience and Environment Protection, an article about the discovery, on September 24, 2019 (photo 1), of 614 dinosaur footprints, in Cabo Espichel (article link here).

The footprints date back ~129 million years (Early Cretaceous) and are from medium to large-sized carnivorous (theropods) and herbivores (sauropods and ornithopods) dinosaurs. The investigation, which also included a stratigraphic and sedimentological study (photo 2) has already made it possible to submit two other articles for publication.

This is the work of a team of Portuguese, Spanish, French and Brazilian paleontologists and stratigraphers, led by Prof. Silverio Figueiredo. It fits in the project. “The vertebrates of the Barremiano do Cabo Espichel and their Iberian context: paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic implications”, with the participation of Inst. Polytechnic of Tomar, from the Dep. of Earth Sciences, Univ. Coimbra and Naturtejo Geopark, as well as research centers (Portuguese Center for Geo-History and Pre-History, Center for Geosciences of the U.C., MARE – Center for the Sea and the Environment, and Instituto Dom Luis). From the DCT-FCTUC, Prof. Pedro Proença e Cunha (photo 3).
