Ancient elephant calf article, Scientific Reports top 100 most read

The article “First tracks of newborn straight-tusked elephants (Palaeoloxodon antiquus)”, published in mid-2021, is already in the top 100 of the most read articles in 2021 by Scientific Reports, by the Nature group.
In 2021, around 2000 articles were published in this journal on the Ecology theme; in the 2nd semester this article had 4873 downloads.
It features the first discovery of ancient elephant calf footprints in a layer of coastal sands dating from ca. 120,000 years old that also features footprints from Neanderthals and various fossil vertebrates. In the Iberian Peninsula, the ancient elephant species became extinct around 30,000 years ago.
