Geoscience Center (CGeo)

Mission

The Geosciences Center (CGeo) is a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional R&D unit that bridges geosciences, geo-resources and societal challenges through fundamental research, geotechnological and humanistic solutions. It is a knowledge hub with half a century of existence, currently comprising 54 integrated researchers of 166 members structured as a consortium of the University of Coimbra, the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and the Earth and Memory Institute (central Portugal), the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (northeast of the country) and the Autonomous University of Lisbon (in the capital).

CGeo is committed to delivering projects and research outputs through transversal integrated approaches with a special emphasis on benefiting society, capacity-building, and the advancement and sharing of knowledge, emphasizing N-S and S-S cooperation.
