Researcher at DCT-UC discovers new species of conifer from the Cretaceous

Mário Miguel Mendes, researcher at the Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences (MARE) and FCTUC Collaborator, identified a new species of conifer attributable to the Cheirolepidiaceae family. The new species was identified in a Lower Cretaceous sedimentary succession from Juncal (district of Leiria).
