6 - Communication, Journalism and the Public Space
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
The Communication, Journalism and the Public Space research group conducts its research in the field of communication sciences. Given the interdisciplinary matrix of CEIS20, its research lines bring together contributions from other scientific fields. The general objectives of the group are:
- To develop research in communication sciences;
- To study the role of media and communication in the contemporary world;
- To study the workings of journalism as a practice and profession;
- To examine the impact of the media on new forms of communication and the organisation of the public space;
- To analyse the major debates in the public space;
- To understand the impact of new technologies on society and the media;
- To examine ethical and normative issues in communication and journalism;
- To promote studies of media literacy;
- The dynamics of public opinion.
